We are very excited to announce some additional special exhibits that will take place during New York art trip 2012 (March 8-11)!
At the Guggenheim: Choices, a retrospective of the works of John Chamberlain, one of the major sculptors of our time. The exhibition comprises nearly 100 works, from his earliest monochromatic welded iron-rod sculptures to the large-scale foil creations of recent years.
And at the Met: The Steins Collect: Matisse, Picasso and the Parisian Avant-Garde, Rembrandt and Degas and The Renaissance Portrait from Donatello to Bellini
The Steins Collect: Matisse, Picasso and the Parisian Avant-Garde, organized by the Met, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Réunion des Musées Nationaux-Grand Palais, Paris, this exhibition unites 200 works of art that show the impact that Gertrude Stein and her family had on the artists of their day.
Rembrandt and Degas: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, currently at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, this exhibition is the first to explore Rembrandt’s influence on Degas. On view will be a series of self-portraits of the two artists when they were both starting out on their illustrious careers.
The Renaissance Portrait from Donatello to Bellini, featuring many rare international loans, this exhibition will present an unprecedented survey of the period and provide new research and insight into the early history of portraiture.
All this beside the museums’ marvellous permanent collections, Cindy Sherman at the MoMa, The Armory Show, the Whitney Biennial and more….!
