Finally painting in Tuscany!
Two days ago our group of arrived safely . Painted this afternoon in the old 18th Century grain storage. Worked with planes and various shades of grey because of a grey Tuscan day; it is raining sporadically. I have noticed that I am working with a strong group of painters. The morning was dedicated to a two-hour lecture on Arthur Danto’s notion of the “artworld” and Dewey’s concept of art as an experience. Certainly, we learn as much painting by its history and theory. Art history and art theory are musts for any successful painter.
I have found myself reminiscing about Studio Italia quite a bit as of late. I was there five years ago at this time – oh how I wish I was there now too!
I trust good food, good wine, and good company are being enjoyed by all – not to mention good painting! 🙂
